Guest Post: The Other Picture of Pakistan

Name Pakistan creates a picture of a lawless land in your mind where extremism flourishes and society is in chaos. A dark picture indeed it is.

But I, as a Pakistani, looks at another picture, beside that dark picture.

That little picture is beautiful, is full of colors and invites you to remove that dark picture from your mind. That little picture is the true Pakistan, which is hidden from the world.

So I invite you to check out this little mosaic of Pakistan, my beautiful Pakistan.

There are several Pakistans and your blog counterbalance some preconceived ideas. I once knew a Pakistani artist and his son who were painters and creators of jewels. Mother wrote a piece for a magzine abou them after one exhibition in Paris and she was given a bracelet that I have inherited – heavy, figuring leaves, a gold leaf upon silver; beautiful. And I remember vaguely, as I was a child, a tree in bloom seen as if one was inside the tree, looking up the sky and down to the earth. It made me dream during days and I think of it every spring. Pakistan is also a land of beauty and of artists and intellectuals and searchers for peace. I agree with you. And like your blog. Do go on. 🙂

Just saying a simple thanks in reply to this magnum opus comment on my blog will not be justice.
So much overwhelmed by it, I’m unable to express my feelings right now.
The dreams you saw during those spring days must be special and now I’m feeling more proud of my Pakistan.
Thank You so much for your say!!!!

Oh but you MUST be proud of your Pakistan! And you have to go on explaining that it is not a land of fanatics as the Western world often thinks it is – wehave our fanatics in the Western world as well. Droplet by droplet, it is the duty of artists, writers, bloggers, and others who are able to articulate feelings thoughts to make opinions change as well as to give testimonial of beauty and intelligence where they are.

Oh Yes!! I’m proud of my Pakistan, despite all the flaws, issues, problems and what not. I can talk about all such things on my blog here, like so many other.
But why should I be like those? I’m different from them and I’m proud of my difference, just as I’m proud of my Pakistan.

Thank so much for your lovely comments. I’m just doing my job, like a small candle in darkness. I have hope and I will not lose it, no matter what. Things will go right. May be not today, may be not tomorrow. But one day they will. INSHA ALLAH!!
Thank you once again for your kind words.
