Coloring Books! For Adults!! REALLY!!!

To be honest with you, in my country, coloring a book is purely consider as a child activity. Here, adults will spend hours in either playing outdoor sports, hanging out with friends, dining out, watching movies and so much more. Quite frankly, Pakistani adults will do just about anything to pass time and entertain themselves beside coloring a book.

Sure, there are art institutes and colleges in all major cities of Pakistan where subjects of painting, sculpturing and more are taught but if you ask a common Pakistani adult, in his/her 30’s let’s say, about ever coloring a book after they passed school, their reply will probably make you wonder why you asked that question in the first place.

Anyway, I found out about coloring books for adult and I now consider them as not only as a great way to do some creative work, but also a much need activity for that child inside all of us. But then, I may have to buy not just an adult coloring book as Uzair also loves to hold a pencil in his hands these days. Imagine a father and son, sitting side by side or across the table, coloring books. Now that is something really special.

I’m very much thankful to The Historian of An Historian About Town for showing me this very special creative activity for adults. You can check her article by clicking on the link below:

Adult coloring books are now very popular in Pakistan too. Seems like a great way to reduce stress. They are available at almost every retail store. Customers are also buying them online on popular ecommerce websites such as Kaymu.pk, dealtoday,pk, kitabain.com, themarket.pk e.t.c There is also a marketplace for females by the name of Sheops on Facebook. The book is getting a lot of hype there as well.

Nobody I know does this in Greece! But I can see it would be quite a relaxing passtime – no worse than playing solitaire, for example. It’s always nice to mess about with colors, and if you have no talent for drawing… You might try The Girls with this, Camille!

I was ahead of the curve – I’ve been selling a Child’s Coloring Set for about 5 years, and it was the parents who asked me if I would make a larger one for Adults. I have been selling the Adult Coloring Set for about a year now!

It is all the fashion in Europe and Northern America. They say it is very creative and relaxing. The phenomenon happened something like two years ago. Old ladies in my reading groups online tall eah others where to find colouring images even on the Internet. You then download them for free. I pass the information. I have not yet tried. I am still of the Old Shool where colouring was for children and adults would read, play a musical instrument, discuss, paint (as artistic creation), knit, sew, etc. But these books can be found even in The Supermarket of The Village – and The Village is small! 🙂

I got so amazed after I found out about them. Like you said, coloring is for children only while adults do have their own things to do. This is not so common here. It does look creative and mind relaxing.
