A Very Big Day

Well folks, today was the day!

My son Uzair woke up this morning fully excited to start up a new brand new chapter of his life: His first day in school.

Wearing his little bag on the shoulders and carrying his little water bottle in his hands, he roamed in the home proudly telling everyone that he is going to school today.

Along with Uzair, Zainab, my niece, also started up her school today.

My heart filled up with so much joy as I saw Uzair enjoying this big moment of his life. Although he and Zainab just went today for an introductory session, as normal classes will start from next week, I have this strong feeling that he will enjoy his this new phase of his life as much as I can expect.

He will make friends, he will learn new things, he will start understanding the world around him and will open up his mind to new and exciting possibilities.

The second brick has been placed firmly now!

Yesterday marked an end for a big chapter in Uzair’s life!

As it was his very last day in his pre-school. After spending about 3 years over there and getting his very first basic knowledge about life’s basics, he is ready to step into the primary section of his educational life. He said good-bye to his teachers and met his classmates.

I’m feeling little sad about this because last 3 years in that pre-school, he learned so much about not just basic education but also about interacting with people outside home. He made his very first friends in school, about whom he told me almost everyday in past 3 years. The school lunch hour and playing in the playarea were his favorite. He even loved to share his home made lunch with his friends in school, which is a very good thing.

And he also loved learning about the basics like alphabets, numbers, shapes, colors and so much more. And showing me acheiving full marks in a class test, when I would return back home from work, was his favorite thing to do. I never stopped wondering about how Uzair spent his day in school, doing his classwork or playing with his friends. I wondered about this so many times and dearly wished to capture his activities on video but that never happened. This makes me sad.

Three years ago, I wrote the post you can read below about Uzair’s first day in pre-school and now, I’m writing about his last day.

Time surely flies so fast and it takes away so much from us. But on the other hand, it also gives us moments to cherish about for the rest of our lives.

This is such an important day – for Uzair AND for his parents too! We know your feelings and his but, as a woman, I think about his Mum who certainly finds it strange not to have her son with her all day long, and who must have worried a little as well! I wish he enjoys school for the learning and for the fun and that he finds fun in learning. As you say, it is the first brick, and bricks will keep going all his life long. 🙂

You are right! But for about a month or two, he will only attend a two hour session every weekday. School is not so far away from my home too, about 15 minutes drive. So far he is enjoying this brand new experience of his life and what more parents can ask for 🙂

I’m not as excited as him, honestly speaking 🙂
My feelings are mixed: bit worried, cautious, happy of course too
