Will my sins hide away?
When I put a mask over my face
Others may not see the old me
But for how long?
They will realize one day
Old nature of this new face
Or I may use this new identity
To construct a new image of me
A brand new me
Behind a mask!

If it is a new you, maybe it is not a mask? I very much enjoyed your poem, Hammad Rais.

Everybody has his/her past, but the best bet is to put the past behind and put on a new and full regalia of good character and impactful life.

Oh I do like your words here. We all wear masks in our lives, who is it that sees the real us? Or is it when we simply look in the mirror?

Thanks. You are right, we all wear masks. Not all the time but we do wear them up. Either to get an advantage or hiding ourselves.

Or protecting ourselves.

To mask oneself to hide one’s identity, to become a new person that is hidden behind the mask? A difficult process, isn’t it?

Yes, difficult indeed but if the burden of reason behind wearing that mask is heavier than the mask, the it won’t be a difficulty.
