How You Look At This World?

The following is the English translation of an excerpt from Ashfaq Ahmed’s book Zaviya (The Dimension):

One day, we were sitting with Baba (a wise man). I asked him why this world has become so bad and materialistic.

He replied: The world is very good. When we look upon it with a narrow-minded vision, it becomes narrow-minded for us. It becomes creepy when we envision it as creepy. There is no other place as selfish as this world, if your selfishness consumes you.

But when you look at this world with love, open heart and bright eyes, the world you see right in front of you fills up with rare beauty.

Ashfaq Ahmed was a distinguished writer, intellectual, spiritualist and playwright and broadcaster from Pakistan. You can find out more about him by clicking here.

Yes, we all look at the world as an individual and the meaning in our vision creates the world in front of us.

Thanks for the read and commenting. My world is mix. Good and bad both. I look at it the way what I feel good about in my heart.

This is very interesting, Hammad. I shall share this post with great joy. Thank you to have provided the link about the biography. We see the world we want to see. If I understand well, the world is what we make it. I wish I might remain that positive! I shall try to remember.
Do you know if this author has been translated into English or French?
    🙂

Thanks. One of my friend shared it with me yesterday. I will search for English version of The Dimension. There are 3 volumes I think of it. Ashfaq Ahmed even hosted a program based on his book on national TV of Pakistan but that’s in Urdu, not English. I will look for English version of the book.

You are right to share this widely. Except for specialists, I don’t think many people know something about literature, philosophy and, more widely, culture in Pakistan. I wonder how many even know that the language is Urdu. We have a lot to learn from you. 🙂

So I can be the teacher here? 🙂
Joke aside, I think sharing more excerpts like these from Urdu is a good idea. Will share more then!

I really like this approach of looking at ‘things’. We live in the 21th century, sure it seems as if we humans became very materialistic, but we evolved. For a very good reason; survival 😉

Yes, we did evolved but this evolution is part of good, part bad. That’s what I think.
