Spicy Meat Nihari

Have you ever done a late night cooking or ever prepared a dish which requires more than 6 hours of cooking time and features tons of ingredients?

Probably not and you may not say yes to this idea anyway because who wait for a dish that took 6+ hours to cook as we all live in a world where time is money and you can’t lose a single penny.

But may be just once, you may try it.

That one dish is Nihari, a slow cooked meat curry. This dish is very much popular in Pakistan and you can prepare it either beef, mutton or even chicken. The reason behind slow cooking of Nihari was due to all night long preparation and serving it freshly hot next morning in breakfast. Talk about heavy start of the day!

In many areas of Pakistan, and even in Karachi, Nihari is still served as a breakfast. But I prefer it more in either lunch or dinner, just like the rest.

So if you are in mood to start up your day in full spicy mood, then Nihari is the one dish you should look forward to. Many thanks to Shana Shameer for sharing this.

Not a big fan of nalli/marrow otherwise, but the actual goat meat part is to die for!

Over here, we have nihari without marrow section. For marrow lovers, we have Pa’ay, with all those nalli.
I like both but not a fan of marrow section, just like you 🙂

No, paya I don’t like at all, too sticky! What I really like is khichda/haleem 👌
