A Photo A Week Challenge – Made by Hand

A little creation on a little stick!

This year, Uzair’s school dedicated one week of March for vegetables. Different vegetable based theme activities took place in school and kids were asked to show up in school wearing clothes with vegetables pictures and more. Uzair enjoyed it very much.

One activity, which he received as a home assignment, was to bring up vegetables in shapes of flowers in school. At first, Jia (my wife) tried her hands on making flower shaped mini sandwiches with vegetables in it but those didn’t turned into a success. We then asked for the services of Bismah (my cousin) who is an Arts student. She really thought out of the box and created these for his little nephew:

She trimmed pieces of carrot and cucumber as flower and leaf respectively and stuck them up on toothpicks. This was such a great idea and I took the snap of one before Uzair took couple of them to school with him.

Loved the visual of using food in a creative way. We do that here with chocolate, fruit and floral arrangements. ❀

My cousin wanted to show her full skills by cutting up full size carrot and cucumber into a bouquet of flowers. Jia and I didn’t let her because it was time consuming and Uzair wasn’t participating in some big competition. So, she made up these instead.
