Bon appetite!
The Islamic month of Ramadan is underway this April, which means Fasting from dusk till dawn.
The days are filled up with usual Ramadan activities, one of which is preparing Iftar, the meal eaten after the sunset, to open our Fast.
This past Friday, my Uncle invited the whole family of ours at his place for Iftar. It was a wonderful event and we enjoyed plenty of good treats, which were really amazing.
What you are seeing here are multiple meals in serving dishes, placed on the plastic rugs on the floor. We followed the tradition of opening our Fast by sitting on the floor.
Starting clockwise from top right, following items were prepared and served. I have added external links against each, if you want to know more about them:
- Fruit Chaat (aka Fruit Salad but with spices)
- Dahi Baray (also known as Dahi Vada)
- Pakora
- Samosa
- Spring Roll
- Papar
- Khasta (a homemade cookie which is a bit salty but also sweet in taste. This one is my family’s specialty as my late grandmother passed down the recipe to her daughters after learning it from her elders. No link for this one 🙂 )
- Jalebi
- Imarti
- Channa Chaat
- Chicken Sandwich
- Chutney
Ramadan mubarak, Hammad.

Seeking inner peace indeed but the rest isn’t much these days, because of change in daily routine.
That feast was indeed amazing 🙂
