What if I gaze upon
Something beautiful
For long enough
To wipe out all
That I really don’t
Want to reside
In my mind
I can look upon such beauty
For as long as I want to
But what I went through
In days which are past now
Will stay with me forever
As memories of pain
Are inked more deeply
Than handful of joys

Age, I have found, brings perspective, or perhaps selective memory that latches onto the positives more than the pain.

Indeed but for some, certain negative aspects from the past also drags along, whether they like it or not.

I think that joy and good memories can cause pain to lose its sharpness and fade away, leaving only a little scar.

Getting older helps. The good memories bubble up more often, I find.

Yes, you are right. Every now and then, I do recall about the old days, while spending my today.
