Once Upon A Trip Of My Lifetime – A Tale Of Corniche

Ready for Day 1?

Very much indeed because I’m just getting started here 🙂

The excitement factor skyrocketed to new heights on day #1 (5th January, 2017).

Despite staying awake the night before, I was unable to sleep because the bed wasn’t mine. Yes, I suffer from that common disorder because I’m not a frequent traveler.

Other reason for waking up early was my excitement!

I wanted to grasp as much as I could because I was in a new place, which I hadn’t seen before.

I stepped out on the balcony of my hotel room and saw this:

A perfect January sunrise!

How much amazing this could get, I thought back then. And seeing this right now, I’m once again in awe of the sheer beauty of this view. I can literally feel myself seeing this view on that same balcony, as I’m writing.

I took as many pictures as I could because it was all so surreal for me. Here’s another one:

Downtown Dubai was a bit foggy but I was able to see Burj Khalifa in the distance, world’s tallest building.

Three of us were ready for our first day as my Uncle came over to pick us later for breakfast at his hotel because he was staying at another nearby hotel with his family. An excited day was in store for us as after having our breakfast, all of us decided to drive towards the city of Fujairah.

I took my camera but didn’t took a single picture of that amazing road trip because I didn’t wanted to drain out the battery. Jia didn’t took any picture from her smartphone as she was thinking that I would take some. I some times feel bad about missing this because of my clumsiness.

We reached Fujairah late afternoon and had lunch there. Later, my brother suggested to check out Fujairah’s corniche, which is quite famous. After having our lunch, we headed towards the corniche area and I finally took some pictures there:

I took this picture of a roadside mountain, while heading towards Fujairah corniche. Having myself an amazing lunch earlier must’ve prompted me to take pictures later, though I also had my breakfast in the morning.

Visiting any city of the UAE and one is bound to spot queues upon queues of palm and date trees. During this trip, I saw more such trees that I could’ve in my entire lifetime.

Reaching the corniche’s street!

Driving alongside the corniche at the evening that day was certainly a pleasant experience. Too bad I couldn’t drive the car myself on that road. But I enjoyed taking the photos.

The beach side of Fujairah corniche was amazingly clean and despite being the month of January, it wasn’t so cold there.

My artistic nerves were pumped with excitement once I hit the beach, so I took this photo of the beach with footprints and tire tracks on sand.

The water was pleasantly calm and we stepped further to feel the gentleness, which was certainly a surreal experience.

This is my Aunt driving the car, after we left the corniche. She asked my Uncle for letting her drive a little because she hadn’t drive in UAE before.

We took a new route to head back to Dubai, a two hour journey through UAE’s small towns. We only made a single stop for some tea and snacks along the way. Despite having tea, a headache bothered me till we reached Dubai because I forgot to eat an aspirin in the morning.

Once reaching Dubai, we enjoyed an amazing local delicacies dinner in Dubai at a roadside restaurant. Since it was Thursday, as Friday is a public holiday in UAE, we went out again for night time drive on Dubai’s famous Sheikh Zayed Road. It was really amazing but sadly, I was unable to took any pictures of the skyscrapers as my camera battery had drained.

Reaching back at the hotel, after spending an amazing first day of my Dubai, I started to wonder about how much fun I could hold on to.

Because this was just the start 🙂

This post is part of my 2017 Dubai trip re-experiencing as I’m sharing some old and some new photos from that trip, along with details about what I experienced in my very first foreign country visit. Read the previous episode by clicking on the link below:

It was such an amazing fun for me that even after 6 years, I’m remember almost every detail about it. I didn’t shared much about this trip on my blog back in 2017 but this year, I decided to head back and re-experience it, virtually.
Stay tuned for more episodes 🙂

      You are exactly right, Anne!
The reason this trip is so vivid in my mind is because of all the pictures I took. But I do feel sad by not taking more.
      May be next time 🙂
